The Arms of Morpheus

“Sleep, perchance to dream, for in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?”

I hope Shakespeare doesn’t mind that I’ve rearranged his dialogue somewhat - only to fit my intention, artistic license being a goodly prop. I’m sure he would approve. It was once said that imagination is the bridge to the other worlds; the astral, beyond the veil or whatever is your preference of phrase for that mysterious place of wonders.

You will have heard the saying that we only use a small percentage of the brain. It has been likened to an iceberg - that is to say, we only see the tip above the water, the largest part is hidden under the ocean's murky depths. So it is with the mind, what miracles we could perform if only we could tap into the hidden part? There are many ways to access this vast ocean of subconscious thought, here, for now, I will discuss dreams.

I would advise anyone to buy a journal. Label it "Dream Book” and start writing in it immediately - any scholar of the occult arts will strongly recommend this. The daily filtration of information, important or mundane, will be processed and filed in your mind and catalogued at a later date. Just like a computer, signs, symbols, words, people, dates, places, are all there. Your subconscious, through dreams, plays it back for your nocturnal perusals. Your awareness and remembrance of this information will aid you greatly, hence the Dream Book.

But, and it’s a big but, daily information is not all we receive in dreams. Warnings, visits from deceased loved ones, premonitions and insights, the dream world is a landscape of wonderment. A magical place, a place to fly, travel in time, visit far away places, speak to wizards and mystics. Through meditation techniques, astral travel, crystal awareness and chakra work, we can do all this and more. Another quote just popped into my mind, "without going out of my door, I can know the ways of heaven”. Trust in yourself, believe in what you’re doing, find out what you’re comfortable with and dream away. There's a whole universe out there to explore, enjoy its many wonders.
